My thoughts about some movies.

     I watched a couple of movies over the last couple weeks and I refuse to write a whole review about each one!

Death Proof- 3 out of 5 stars- should have ended after the first set of girls because the second set were just annoying
The Paper Chase- 4 out 5 stars- It's a story about a first year law student at Harvard who falls in love.  It's an older movie and I think that the feelings the students go through are realistic but they are blown to the 9th power. 
21- 3 out of 5 stars- who knew that a movie based on "facts" could be so predictable!

     I have watched five movies in the last couple days and I do not feel like writing a review about each one so I'm just going to do it rapid fire style...

I Am Legend- 3.75 out of 5 stars...I enjoyed this true story about a prince
Harold and Kumar- 3 out of 5 stars....warm and touching comedy about love
Chuck and Larry-3 out of 5 stars...I thought this movie was better than all the reviews it got.  One part I laughed for about 5 minutes straight
Plant Terror-4 out of 5 stars...over acting + dumb plot + bad footage = a funny and gory movie!
Charlie Wilson's War- 4 out of 5 stars..Tom Hanks did a great job with this amazing story

     I just watched Sweeney Todd and I really enjoyed it.  This movie combines two if my favorite things...musicals and hair stylists!  Sweeney Todd is a musical starring Johnny Depp that is very dark, it has cool visuals and it is full of gore.  I will give this movie an outstanding 4.5 out of 5 stars!  I do not know what else to say but go see this movie!

     I watched Super High Me and I thought it was a nice film.  This movie is a documentary starring comedian Doug Benson.  Doug Benson lives in California and due to his depression, he is prescribed medical marijuana.  While on stage, Doug would always make a joke about how he watched Super Size Me and how someone should make a film about doing pot for a month straight.  Well one time a film producer was in the club and he thought this was a good idea so they made this movie.  The movie is in two parts...the first is where he gives up pot for 30 days then followed by 30 straight days of being high 24/7.  He takes different kinds of test during both parts and there is some history about pot mixed in the movie too.  I liked the film and it was neat to see what happened.  I would give this movie 3.25 out of 5 stars.

     Watched another movie and this one is called Shutter.  This movie has three of my favorite things...a cast member from Dawson's Creek, photography, and Asians.   This movie is a horror movie that deals with seeing a ghost when Joshua Jackson takes pictures but does not really scare you.  I will give this movie 1.5 out of 5 stars.  It is just another stupid horror movie that follows the exact same plot as every other stupid horror movie.

     I watched Strange Wilderness the other day and I actually really enjoyed it!  I will give this slapstick comedy 3.5 out of 5 stars.  I know Jon will disagree with me here but who cares about Jon's opinion.  (Answer: No one cares)  I actually laughed very hard at some parts of this movie but I will grant you that those parts were very "low brow" but it is a comedy and not all comedies have to be The Royal Tenenbaums or City Slickers.  When looking through my past reviews on this page I would say by far this was the funniest comedy I have reviewed.  I would recommend this movie if you liked Grandma's Boy.  It is not the same movie or plot as Grandma's Boy but it does have that type of humor in it.  Also, if you look on RottenTomatoes this movie received a 0% and I do not see how that is possible.  Terrible movies like Zohan and the Love Guru were in the 20's and 30's.

     I watched National Treasure 2 and it was not too bad.  Of course, Nicolas Cage over acted and the ending was predictable but I like conspiracies and history!  I will give this movie 3 out of 5 stars.  If you saw the first one, this movie is the same movie but with a different history treasure hunt!  So if you liked the first one or if you are a big Nicolas Cage fan then you might like this movie, Jon.

     I saw the Dark Knight on opening night and it was awesome!  I would give it 4.5 out of 5 stars!   The Joker and all did an amazing job making this a dark and spooky batman and not the over blown and hyped batman back in the 90's.  My only complaint would be that it was a tad too long but nothing is perfect (except for my vision and my writing skills).   If you have not seen this movie, then you are a loser geek with no friends but hey, at least you saw wall-e with Jon!

     Funny, smart, and a great movie from start to finish.  Now that I am done talking about Dumber and Dumber, I watched the Love Guru the other day and I thought it was awful.  I will give this movie 1.5 out of 5 stars.  They reused the same jokes from the Austin Powers series and not the funny ones.  Very few chuckles along with predicable unfunny jokes.  I would recommend this movie if you are a retard who has not seen the Austin Powers series.

     Watched Vantage Point the other day and I thought is was a solid action film.  This movie is not going to win any awards or get any praise from Jon Mossie but I would still rate it a nice 3 out of 5 stars.  It is your typical action film with a somewhat predictable outcome but for what it was worth it was a fun ride from start to finish.  I thought it was neat how they only had about 20 minutes of film but the replayed it repeatedly from different VANTAGE POINTS!

  

     I watched Zohan the other day and out of respect to Adam Sandler, I will not rate it.  Very few laughs but not as terrible as you might think.  The movie seems to be focusing on third grade dick jokes that were funny when you were 9 years old.  On the positive side, I watched this movie at http://www.watch-movies.net/ , which is the perfect place to watch this movie.  My brother told me about this site and it is a site to watch the latest movies through the eyes of a palmcorder!  If you have a job like I do or have a laptop so you can watch movies from a comfortable chair and you want to watch a movie you do not want to pay to see then I recommend the site.  The downside of this site is if you have the latest version of Firefox, you have to use internet explorer.  ZOHAN!

 

     I watched Be Kind Rewind the other day and I thought it was all right.  I would give it 2.5 out of 5 stars.  I thought this movie was a great idea but it fell short.  I would have preferred the whole movie to be just short little skits making fun of old movies instead of like 10 minutes of being that.  If you go to the movie website, they actually have short funny skits from different movies that should have been in the movie.  I thought the whole second part of the movie was dumb because why make a movie about a jazz musician no one knows.  I also thought Mos Def was terrible and should never act again.

    

    I watched Hot Rod a couple days ago and I enjoyed it.  I would give this movie a 3 out of 5 stars and it would probably be a 5 out of 5 if I were wasted.  This movie is a dumb silly comedy that feels like something my friends and I would make in the backyard.  The movie stars Andy Samberg and if you watch SNL and his digital shorts, this movie is like an 86-minute digital short about a guy who does stunts to save his step-dad so he can kick his ass.   I would recommend this movie if you are into stupid humor.

   I just watched Juno and I almost cried!  Just kidding but I did like this movie even with the nonstop cool phrases that made me want to shoot myself.  I heard that this was a great comedy but I chuckled multiple times and always had a smile on my face but I did not think it was a great comedy.  More of a real sweet story that made you smile then cry.  I would give this flick a 4 out of 5 stars and a must see if you are into teen pregnancy.

    I watched Cloverfield last night and I thought it was a good film.  It was shot in a first person palmcorder style with shakes and all.  If you have motion sickness then you should not watch this film.  As to most horror scary monster films some of the stuff during the movie did not really add up but who cares it was a fun adventure.  I would give this movie 4 out of 5 stars and a must rent if you are in to big scary monsters!

    Well I just watched No Country for Old Men and I thought it was a good movie but not a great movie.  I did like the story and feel to the movie and I actually cared about the characters unlike the love story in Semi-Pro.  I will give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars and it might be higher if I ever find out what the meaning was to the ending.   I would definitely go out and rent this if you are looking for a movie to watch.  I did not on the other hand think it was one of the greatest movies ever as many of the critics said...maybe they understood the ending.

    Just watched Semi-Pro and I thought it was good.  Nothing special but there was some funny parts that I will probably end of quoting when I am around friends.  I would give this movie a 3 out of 5 stars and it would have been better if they did have a love story involved and just added more jokes.  The love story was the main sub plot and it was just lame.  We had no reason to care if the two got together because they really did not build up the characters past.  I would not go out and buy this movie but I would download it or a rent it if you want to watch a silly comedy.  It was a good stupid comedy and nothing more!

    Just got done watching Murderball and I thought it was a good movie.  I would give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.  It is a documentary about paraplegics who play wheelchair rugby.  Just because they are in a wheelchair does not mean it is not a full contact sport and they show it during this movie.  It is a solid documentary that follows some of the athletes who are on the USA wheelchair rugby team and it gives some back-story about how they became a paraplegic.   Overall it is a good solid movie and I would recommend it if you are into documentaries or paraplegics.



 

1. Fight Club

  This movie is freaking awesome.  It has a great plot and great acting.  I was first reluctant to see this movie because I though it was just a stupid jock movie, Boy was I wrong!

2. Dumb and Dumber

  I have probably seen this movie more times than any other movie.  I believe this is the funniest movie of all time and I laugh out loud every time I watch it.  There are so many great lines in this movie.

3.  Seven

  This is a great movie.  This movie is why I have such a great interest in the criminal justice system.

4. Vanilla Sky

  I enjoyed the "what the hell is going on" aspect of this movie.  I thought it was brilliant to leave the audience wandering what really happened at the end rather than tie up the loose ends.  This is a crazy movie that worked.

5. American History X

  There are great acting jobs done in this movie.  I believe all people should be required to see this movie.

Others: Pulp Fiction, Memento, GodFather I & II, ScarFace, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, TommyBoy, Forrest Gump, Three Kings, and so many more I can remember right now!!
